雨果《悲惨世界》中迪涅小镇的主教米里埃先生是我最喜欢的人物，他是一位

善良、正直、光明磊落、异常聪慧且有着开阔胸襟的仁厚长者。他把自己每月的薪
水都捐给教区，自己过着极其俭朴的生活；常常照顾生命垂危和遭遇不幸的人。无
论什么事，他都是正直、诚实、公平地对待。文中的主角苦役犯冉阿让也是在他的

感召下慢慢地恢复了善良的本性，经受住了生死的考验而走上了正途。

像米里埃先生这样内外兼修的人就是子贡说的君子吧！（李乐成）

Ji Zicheng remarked to Zigong, saying, “A wise and good man wants only the

substance; why should he trouble about the style?”
“I am sorry to hear you make such a statement,” replied Zigong, “What you would

say is true; but, stated in that way, it is impossible for men not to misunderstand your
meaning. To be sure, the style comes out of the substance, but the substance also comes

out of the style. For the substance in the skin of a tiger or a leopard is the same as the
substance in the skin of a dog or a sheep.”
